INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR COMPARATIVE MEDICINE

Qin Chuan, MD, PhD, China

Chuan Qin, MD, PhD, is the President of the Chinese Association for Laboratory Animal Sciences (CALAS), and the Director of the Institute of Laboratory Animal Sciences (ILAS), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College. She is also the VicePresident of the Asian Federation of Laboratory Animal Science Associations (AFLAS), a board member of the International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS), and Chairman of the National Standardization Technical Committee of Laboratory Animals. In addition to Animal Models and Experimental Medicine, Prof. Qin is also the EditorinChief of Acta Laboratorium Animalis Scientia Sinica and Chinese Journal of Comparative Medicine.

 

Prof. Qin has received more than 20 Science and Technology awards, including the National Award and awards from Beijing City, the Chinese Medical Association, and CALAS. She has also been granted honors including “First Prize of National Innovation”, and “Woman PaceSetter”

Prof. Qin's main research has been in experimental pathology. She has over 110 SCI papers published in international journals including Nature Medicine, Nature Microbial, and Nature Communication. Among her accomplishments, she has consolidated and built up what is now the largest resource of animal models for human disease, covering 1,000 models and 20 species. In addition, she has created platforms for comparative medical technology and animal model technology for infectious diseases. The resources and technology platforms she has established makes ILAS the premier laboratory animal sciences institute in China, with established and expanding international collaborations.
